about the julia mills gallery & workshop
From her Gallery and Studio in the historic Cornish Fishing village of Porthleven, Julia Mills has gained a reputation as one of the leading contemporary glass artists in the UK.
Using the very highest quality glass sourced from around the world, Julia takes inspiration from her local environment and the unique light that is renowned for bathing the cornish coastline. Extra detail and interest is achieved by acid etching and sand blasting, both techniques absorb and reflect natural light, keeping the work bright and colourful.
The beautiful beachhut-style building is south-facing and allows light to flood in all day - perfect for seeing the amazing colourful shadows reflecting around the gallery from the glass panels.
The building is divided in two - one half is a gallery where I sell my own as well as others work. We have a gorgeous selection of jewellery, ceramics, textiles, paintings, prints and cards by Cornish as well as national artists and makers.
The other side of the space is a workshop where I produce free-hanging glass pieces as well as commissioned work.
gallery opening times mon-fri 10 to 5 sat 11 to 5
