the glass & technique

I use mainly mouth-blown glass from Poland for its subtlety of colour and quality. Tiny bubbles (called 'seeds') in the glass add to its beauty. I also use a 'drawn' glass from Germany which has a filigreed surface texture and is also beautifully clear.

The shadows produced when the sun shines through this glass are amazing !

For detail on the panels we use acid-etching - a technique which keeps the work light, unlike painting on glass which tends to darken it.
